Single-Family EWP Design

Our Single-Family EWP Design comes back to you with three basic parts: a Notes Page, an EWP Placement Plan, and Member Calculations.

Notes Page		Our Notes Page functions to flag potential problem areas, identify the data we worked with in making a decision, and then clarify our conclusion. After reviewing this the Builder can agree with, or change, those decisions before products are shipped.
EWP Layout		EWP Layouts are clear and concise.
Member Calculation		Member calculations are accurate and clearly labeled for quick reference.

Title: Provides point of reference on the forthcoming note, so you know what the note is about before you read it

Every note fits into at least one of four categories:

TYPE of Material: e.g. Plan specifies APA-rated sheathing, but this isn’t a product. A decision has to be made: Plywood or OSB. Both are right, but which one was chosen

QUANTITY of Material: e.g. The general notes call for the O.C.S. of the studs to be 24" o.c., but the cross-section calls for them to be 16” o.c.

BUILDING DESIGN: e.g. A beam is drawn in the plan, but is unsupported on one end. We know it won’t levitate, so a decision must be made as to what will support it!

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: e.g. Plan calls for 1-1/8” roof-decking and we are pretty sure it’s a typo on the plan, so we call 1-1/8”, but we flag it in a note so you can discuss with the builder before the product is shipped.

Items to Reference: This captures all the data we reference in making a decision, whether page numbers, details, conversations with the architect, engineer, etc.

Defaults, Your Way: Through the use of file templates, sheet templates and your custom defaults, we tailor layouts the way you need them...every time.

A Sampling of defaults: Page Size, Font Size and Type, Typical Details, Your job #, Dimensions, Plumbing Drops, Default Framing Notes and the list goes on.

Title Block: Clearly shows the job name, floor level and joist series and spacing utilized.

Fonts: Search for that little number or tag no more. Large and clear is our standard.

Calculations

Job Information: Critical information is included in each calculation. Job name, customer, calculation tag and file are just a few of the items included to make later referencing that much easier.

Member Span: Imported directly from BC Framer, the spans are concise and consistent with the true field conditions in which the joist will be utilized.

Loading: Your loading defaults are incorporated into the calculations for a clear and dependable output that corresponds with your local requirements.

Design Criteria: Whether defaulting to code standards or not, calculations are performed to your design limits ensuring that the approval process is streamlined without any bumps.
